Digital Bookmobile comes to Schaumburg

Learn how to download audiobooks, eBooks and more when OverDrive’s 18-wheel Digital Bookmobile visits STDL!  With instructional videos and interactive computer stations, readers of all ages will experience new ways to enjoy digital books and more from the public library.  Schaumburg is only one of two Chicago locations to host this event, so don’t miss it!

Schaumburg Township Digital History Archive

The STDL Local History Digital Archive has hundreds of historic photos, documents and videos tracing the history of Schaumburg Township. Just click on the Local History button on the STDL home page and take a trip through the past. If you have historical photos of the area and wish to donate them or to let us copy them for the archive, email Jane Rozek at jrozek@stdl.org  or call 847-923-3331.

Big Band Memories

Bandleader Steve Cooper will show rare films and videos of the best big bands from the past – both the Swing bands and the Sweet bands. You will see and hear clips from Eddie Howard, Harry James, Glenn Miller, Spike Jones to name a few. At the end of the program, Steve will play a big band song on his trumpet. American Cinema Discussion Series

Romantic Comedies through the Decades will be this year’s theme for American Cinema. Join in the laughs as we explore some of Hollywood’s greatest comedies with a lively discussion of the genre, its production, and behind-the-scene anecdotes.  American Cinema will span the decades with feature length screenings and in-depth discussions, led by film buffs Alan Grimm and Dick Deranian. The class meets every 3rd Wednesday of the month in the Adult Classroom at 7 PM.
