Library Closed New Years Day

The Central Library and both Branch Libraries will close at 5pm on Wednesday, 12/31/2008 and remain closed all day Thursday, 1/1/2009 in celebration of the New Year.  Normal library hours will resume on Friday, 1/2/2009.

Writing Comics Workshop

Jim Gill Concerts

Popular children’s musician Jim Gill performs in the Rasmussen Room on Monday, Dec. 22.  Programs take place 9:30-10:15 a.m. and 10:45-11:30 a.m.  Free tickets will be distributed in Youth Services 20 minutes before each concert.

Steal a Scene Teen Writing Contest

December 18, 2008

Creative teens in grades 7 – 12 are invited to write a scene, no more than 2 pages, double-spaced.  The scene must have at least 2 people and scenery can be described.  Email entries to teenservices@stdl.org or drop scenes off at the Readers’ Advisory Desk of the Central library or at the branch libraries.

Entries due January 2.

Join a Winter Reading Program!

Participate in our Youth Services, Teen, or Adult Winter Reading Programs.  All programs run through Feb. 28.  Sign up at the central library or branches to receive incentives for books you read this winter!

Random Ringers

For the past 17 years, the Random Ringers have performed handbell music in the northwest suburbs. They ring a variety of music on Schulmerich handbells and Malmark choir chimes.
