Streaming Music & Video

Streaming music is now available. Listen to classical, contemporary and jazz on your computer. Interested in the theatre, that’s great, we just added Theatre in Video. Theatre not your thing? Then try American History in Video. All those PBS and History Channel videos you’ve been meaning to watch are now available from your computer. Click to here  to access. These resources are available from home with an STDL library card.

Wow! You Really Came Through!

The library just completed its first ever Reuse A Shoe program and the response was worth a “Wow” from our Nike contact. Thank you to all of those who scoured their closets, basements and garages for old, unused gym shoes. Your donations generated a total of 16 large boxes filled with approximately 425 shoes. Your generosity will go towards new playgrounds, sports surfaces and new Nike products. Go Green, Save Green!

Flexibility—No Stretch of the Imagination

Blood Drive Coming Soon!

A blood drive is scheduled from 1-7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 18 in the Youth Services Classroom of the central library. To donate blood, you must meet certain criteria. For more information or to sign up, contact the library’s Public Relations Coordinator, Susan Miura, at (847) 923-3120. Scheduling an appointment works best, but walk-ins are welcome as well. Those who donate will be entered into a drawing for a special prize.

Teen Appreciation Week

Sunday, August 9 – Saturday August 15

Schaumburg Township teens are celebrated this week with events all over town! At the library, teens entering grades 6 – 12 can pick up coupons for $10 off fines at the Central library Readers’ Advisory Desk or at the Hoffman Estates or Hanover Park Branch libraries.

Schaumburg Jazz Orchestra – Town Square

The library’s final summer music concert, presented by band leader Larry Bemben, will perform old favorites mixed with new surprises. For additional information go to the library’s electronic newsletter Musically Yours. Rain has been predicted. If this should be the case, the performance will be rescheduled and moved to Wednesday, August 12.  Town Square – Monday, August 10 from 6:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.
